The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Ditsobotla notes the appointment of Mr Kopung Ralikontsane as Administrator, following Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Velenkosini Hlabisa’s announcement to place the municipality under Section 139(7) administration, in line with the DA’s request.
This intervention marks the first step towards restoring stability and effective governance in Ditsobotla.
The DA Caucus in Ditsobotla will give its full support to Mr Ralikontsane and the Task Team deployed to address the municipality’s financial collapse and ensure the normalisation of basic service delivery.
We are further encouraged by the deployment of a multidisciplinary law enforcement team to investigate the corruption, fraud, and criminal activity that have plagued Ditsobotla for over two decades.
This is a crucial opportunity to realign the administration, clean out the rot, and restore governance that serves residents. While the intervention is underway, the DA will continue exercising robust oversight, monitoring progress, and keeping residents informed.
Ultimately, only a DA-led government can deliver lasting change. Next year’s local government elections present residents with the opportunity to vote for a party with a proven track record of clean governance and reliable service delivery.
