The Democratic Alliance (DA) welcomes the ongoing road repairs currently underway on the route stretching from Snake Park in Schoemansville to the tunnel at the Hartbeespoort Dam wall (see photos here and here).
This development comes after years of engagement, follow-ups, and continued pressure from the DA regarding the deteriorating condition of this important road used daily by residents, businesses, and visitors to the area.
While the project is not yet complete, the progress already made is encouraging and demonstrates the importance of persistent community-driven oversight and responsive service delivery.
The DA further welcomes the innovative repair approach implemented by the Madibeng Local Municipality, where a specialised slurry mixture consisting of cement, emulsion, and water is being used to create a new road surface. This method has previously delivered positive results during upgrades between Birdwood and Meerhof and shows the value of practical and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
The DA also recognises the contribution made by Proudly Harties NPC in supporting the repair work through the provision of equipment and materials. Cooperation between municipalities, residents, and community stakeholders remains essential in addressing infrastructure challenges and improving local service delivery.
Road infrastructure continues to be one of the major concerns raised by communities across Madibeng. Although significant challenges remain throughout the municipality, this project serves as a positive example of what can be achieved through persistence, collaboration, and a commitment to finding workable solutions.
The DA encourages residents to remain patient while the remaining work is completed and to continue exercising caution in the affected area.
The DA will continue advocating for improved infrastructure, accountable governance, and service delivery that responds to the needs of communities across Madibeng.
