The DA in Ditsobotla will initiate a petition to send to Parliament to urgently investigate and intervene in the ongoing water crisis and total collapse in service delivery in Ditsobotla Local Municipality.

After a court ruling, bulk water supply as well as the reticulation of water in and around Ditsobotla are now managed by Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality.

The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) conducted a survey and found that Ditsobotla requires 20 million litres of water daily to run the taps.

However, since the 4th of May 2024, Ngaka Modiri Molema has not been able to fill a nine-million-litre reservoir, leaving residents without water for up to two weeks at a time.

Despite the municipality being put under administration and several interventions from the District as well as the provincial government, Ditsobotla is still falling apart. Water is a basic human right that is denied to the residents of Ditsobotla.

Therefore, DA Councillors are launching a petition to save Ditsobotla. We invite the community to join hands and sign these petitions because Parliament seems to be our only hope.

Councillors will also assist residents in registering all other concerns.

The DA will keep on fighting for a better life for all and prevent Ditsobotla from being run into the ground.

Under a DA government, we will drive and shape the future of Ditsobotla and hold the ANC-led government accountable.
