The Democratic Alliance (DA) today engaged business leaders, community partners, and key stakeholders at the DA Business Leaders Breakfast in Rustenburg; a critical dialogue focused on charting a new path for economic stability, service delivery, and investment growth in the city.
The core message was clear: Rustenburg’s renewal depends on accountable leadership, partnership, and a shared commitment to service delivery, safety, and opportunity.
With the 2026 Local Government Elections approaching, the DA is ready to restore trust in local governance, improving service delivery, and unlocking real opportunities that benefit the people of Rustenburg.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Rustenburg highlights the urgent need to restore reliable basic services so that businesses can grow and households can thrive. Stabilising the city’s electricity supply, addressing illegal connections, and exploring partnerships with Independent Power Producers are key areas requiring attention.
Water security also remains critical. Measures such as reducing water losses, improving pumping systems and reservoirs, strengthening leak detection, and ensuring accountable water boards, including Magalies Water, are essential for sustainable service delivery.
Rustenburg’s roads and public spaces must reflect the needs of a modern, growing city. Priorities include road rehabilitation, restoration and upgrading of public lighting across wards, and energy-efficient LED streetlights, with special focus on high-traffic and community areas.
Safety underpins economic growth. Strengthening municipal law enforcement, deploying smart surveillance in hotspots, and fostering partnerships with SAPS, private security, and CPF structures are vital for a safer city.
The Royal Bafokeng Nation remains an important development partner. Collaboration through joint infrastructure planning, coordinated investment, and shared service delivery initiatives can help ensure that development benefits reach all households.
Rustenburg’s economic renewal depends on capable and predictable governance. Cutting red tape to attract investment, revitalising industrial areas, supporting SMMEs through skills and enterprise development, and exploring opportunities in green energy and technology sectors are critical areas of focus. A capable state working alongside a confident private sector is key to inclusive growth.
Across South Africa, the DA has demonstrated what good governance can deliver: clean audits, reliable services, and growing local economies. Rustenburg can benefit from the same standard of accountable, transparent leadership.
