The DA in the Rustenburg Local Municipality is concerned over reports that there is a lack of fuel for municipal vehicles responsible for delivering services to residents.

Service delivery in Rustenburg is already near collapse, and a fuel shortage will be disastrous.

The DA received confirmation from unit managers that they are struggling to fill up tanks to respond to basic service delivery needs, like repairing water and sewage leaks, electricity blackouts, and refuse collection.

Rustenburg residents have been without electricity and water supply for days. This has a big financial impact on families who had to throw spoiled food away.

This is in stark contrast to DA-run municipalities, where the residents are prioritised for quality service delivery.

The DA will write to the Acting Municipal Manager, Radinaledi Mosiane, and the Mayor, Cllr Sheila Mabale, urging them to take urgent steps to address the fuel shortage and present it to Council at the next sitting.

The DA will continue to fight for improved service delivery to Rustenburg residents.
