The Democratic Alliance has launched our candidates who will contest all 41 wards in Madibeng in the 2026 Local Government Elections (see photo here).
The candidates were launched in Hartbeespoort by myself and Madibeng Constituency Head Leon Basson MP.
The team combines experienced councillors with a new generation of candidates and brings together a broad range of skills and experience. Among them are former teachers and school principals, a former Madibeng Mayor, attorneys, accountants, property practitioners and journalists, with candidates representing the diverse communities that make up Madibeng.
Every candidate underwent a rigorous selection process, including assessments, interviews and performance evaluations.
This is a team selected on merit and ready to govern.
Madibeng is at a crossroads.
While political instability and infighting continue to distract from the work of governing, residents live with unreliable services, persistent water problems, deteriorating infrastructure and serious financial challenges.
These failures do more than inconvenience residents. They hold back Madibeng’s economy and its ability to create jobs.
Businesses need reliable water, electricity, roads and municipal services to operate and expand. Investors need confidence that public money is properly managed and infrastructure maintained. Small businesses and entrepreneurs need a municipality that enables economic activity instead of making it harder.
The DA is ready to take over Madibeng and put the municipality back to work.
A DA-led Madibeng will focus on tackling criminal interference in the water system, restoring financial discipline, strengthening accountability and getting basic services and infrastructure working again.
Because when a municipality works, businesses have the confidence to invest, grow and that creates opportunities for more people to find work.
On 4 November, Madibeng residents will choose who represents them in their municipality.
The DA has put forward 41 ward candidates ready to serve their communities and take responsibility for getting Madibeng working.
Our candidates are ready. Our team is ready. And our focus is clear: get Madibeng working, grow the local economy and create more jobs.
