The Democratic Alliance (DA) in North West notes President Cyril Ramaphosa’s remarks in Rustenburg yesterday, calling for urgent action to end governance failures in the province. While these remarks are welcome in principle, they come far too late for the thousands who have already suffered under years of ANC misrule.
North West now has the highest unemployment rate in South Africa. This is the devastating outcome of decades of ANC corruption, cadre deployment, and failed governance that have collapsed municipalities, driven away investment, and left communities without basic services.
While the President spoke of Special Economic Zones, regulatory reform, and infrastructure, these are not new promises. What is new is the public’s growing refusal to accept the ANC’s empty rhetoric. The reality remains:
- Budgets wasted through corruption and waste.
- Collapsed infrastructure and failing services.
- Tens of thousands of young people left without jobs or opportunities.
The ANC has had every chance to act. Instead, they looted and neglected. Now they want praise for finally noticing the disaster they themselves created.
If Ramaphosa is serious about change, accountability must come first:
- Who has delivered nothing while pocketing big salaries?
- Which projects are delayed or abandoned — and why?
- What consequences will follow for the elected leaders and officials who failed the people?
The DA demands that the Premier tables a Jobs Rescue Plan with measurable milestones, quarterly public reporting, and a targeted focus on youth employment.
North West is rich in resources and potential, but under ANC rule it has been left poor in opportunity.
The DA stands ready to deliver the honest, accountable government and real job-creating growth that the people of North West deserve.
