The DA in in Ditsobotla mourns the death of Cllr Daniel Mogaka Motlhatlhedi.
Daniel was born on 08 February 1978, and died yesterday morning, 15 July 2026, after a short illness at the age of 48. He leaves behind his wife, children, family, friends, and colleagues.
Before his election in August 2016 as a DA Councillor, Daniel worked as a court interpreter at the then Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.
Daniel was also a passionate sportsperson. He believed in the importance of sport in uplifting communities, especially the youth, and previously worked as a Community Programme Assistant: Sports Coaches Outreach and as a Provincial Facilitator for the SportSec Foundation.
Daniel was a dedicated DA Councillor and represented the interests of Ditsobotla residents at the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality where he served as the DA Caucus Chief Whip.
He was committed towards advancing the DA’s programme of action and played an important role in establishing a strong DA presence throughout Ditsobotla. He specifically championed the interests of residents in Ditsobotla Wards 10 & 13 with dedication.
Daniel’s death leaves a void in Ditsobotla, and he will be sorely missed.
