The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Matlosana Constituency proudly closed off Women’s Month with a vibrant Women’s Day Celebration in Hartbeesfontein on Saturday, 30 August 2025. (see photo here)
The event brought together women from across the community, alongside DA public representatives including Member of Parliament and Matlosana Constituency Head, Jeanne Adriaanse, for a day of inspiration, empowerment, and recognition.
The programme featured moving talks, creative activities, and the recognition of outstanding women who continue to make a positive impact. Guest speakers highlighted the importance of women taking up space in leadership, community activism, and in shaping the future of South Africa.
As Constituency Chairperson, I want to emphasise that this event was more than a celebration, it was also a call to action. Our country and town face serious challenges: Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and drug abuse remain urgent crises that are destroying lives and families. Women and youth must take one another’s hand, rise together, and lead the fight for safer and stronger communities.
The DA in Matlosana also acknowledged the ongoing service delivery crisis in Hartbeesfontein, where residents are forced to live under inhumane conditions, including alleged sewer contamination of underground water. This is unacceptable. DA PR Councillor, Maritha Coetzee, has been on the ground assisting residents and raising these issues at council level, and the DA has committed to intensifying this fight as part of our Turbocharge the Economy campaign ensuring residents’ voices are heard and solutions prioritised.
The DA is the party that delivers. We are committed to creating opportunities, building safer communities, and empowering women and youth to take their rightful place in society. But to achieve this, we need every citizen to get involved — by registering to vote, by volunteering, and by standing with us.
Together, with the voices of women and the energy of the youth, we can confront the challenges of GBV and drug abuse and build a community that offers hope and opportunity for all.
The DA remains the home for women and young people who want real change.
