The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Rustenburg welcomes the revival of the Tlhabane West Sports Facility after sustained DA pressure prevented this project from collapsing into yet another white elephant.
For years, the project was delayed, mismanaged, and at risk of total failure. The DA refused to allow the people of Tlhabane West to be robbed of a facility that can unlock youth development, drive sports participation, and create opportunities for local businesses.
Through ongoing oversight, interventions via the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC), and calls for accountability from National Treasury, the DA ensured that work has now resumed, and the facility will soon open its doors to the community. (see photos here, here, and here)
This is more than just about bricks and mortar. A functioning sports facility means young people have safe spaces to develop their talents, crime is reduced, and small businesses can thrive around the facility. Strong infrastructure is the foundation of stronger communities and growing local economies.
The DA’s vision is clear: empowerment comes from jobs, growth, and investment, not empty promises. The turnaround at Tlhabane West shows what is possible when public money is spent on people, not on corruption.
The DA will continue to fight for proper service delivery and infrastructure that turbocharges jobs and opportunities for all South Africans.
