The ANC in the JB Marks Local Municipality, has in its desperation to promote the lies in its election manifesto, defaced the world-renowned national and provincial Oak Lane heritage site in Potchefstroom, by nailing about 50 manifesto posters into these century-old oak trees. See images here, here, and here.

Not only is this in contravention of the National Heritage Resources Act, (Act 25 of 1999), but also municipal by-laws. It is completely illegal to flight posters in this manner. But then again, the ANC is a party notorious for general criminality, such as the looting of the state through state capture or the general fraud, corruption and abuse of power South Africans have been subjected to these last three decades.

The DA reported the ANC to the South African Heritage Authority. See letter here.

In addition, we wrote to the JB Marks Mayor, Cllr Gaba Thithiba Ka Qhele, demanding that he ensure that these ANC posters are removed immediately in a manner not to further damage the trees. We also request a detailed report on the approval processes that were followed that allowed his party, the ANC, to deface these oak trees.

The ANC faces electoral defeat in next year’s elections. It is unable to deliver even the most basic of services. The ANC knows that its days are numbered. The only nails that will be used are to nail to a close the ANC’s chapter in government.
