The DA in the City of Matlosana Local Municipality welcomes Council’s decision yesterday approving the connection of an additional water pipeline to Supreme Poultry which will also be funded by Council.
The DA has for years petitioned Council to consider the additional pipeline to restore constant water supply to Supreme Poultry and the surrounding communities of Hartbeesfontein and Tigane finally succeeded.
Residents suffer extended dry spells because of the impact of loadshedding and because Tigane and Hartbessfontein are at the end of the bulk water reticulation supply line. Extended blackouts reduce water pressure which leaves taps dry.
The pressure to feed water from the reservoirs servicing Hartbeesfontein and Tigane will be greatly reduced by this newly approved pipeline.
Supreme Poultry employs about 1 500 Tigane residents. Should Supreme Poultry relocate because of a lack of water supply, the impact on the community and the local economy would be catastrophic.
The DA closely monitor the installation of the water pipeline, which will take approximately three to four months to complete, to ensure a speedy completion of the project.
