The DA in the Rustenburg Local Municipality condemns the R3 million spent on three luxurious BMW X3 SUVs for the Mayor, Cllr Shelia Mabale-Huma, Speaker, Cllr Koketso Mogomotsi, and Single Whip of Council, Cllr Louisa Mabe, while residents are burdened with collapsed service delivery.
The purchase of these luxury vehicles is a direct violation of National Treasury’s Cost Containment Regulations which state that executive vehicles must cost at least R700 000, or 70% of the yearly salary plus VAT.
ANC politicians in Rustenburg continue to ride on the backs of residents, living in luxury, while residents live in an environment where there is no access to electricity and clean water, and the repulsive stench of raw sewage hangs in the air.
The people of Rustenburg have had enough of ANC politicians who refuse to put their needs first.
The DA will report this irregular expenditure to MPAC for investigation. We will also demand consequences for those found to have wilfully broken National Treasury’s Cost Containment Regulations.
The ANC-led municipality’s disregard for the people and service delivery is unacceptable. It is time to bid the ANC in government farewell and replace the failed governance of the ANC with the good governance of the DA.
