The Democratic Alliance (DA) wishes to convey its deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of MEC for Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (COGHSTA), Gordon Kegakilwe, who passed away yesterday.

According to reports, the MEC suffered complications after contracting Covid-19 pneumonia to which he lost his life in a Klerksdorp hospital.

I have, in my personal and professional capacity shared many platforms with the MEC and on several occasions engaged in robust debates.

MEC Kegakilwe will be remembered as a reserved and respected individual who carried no grudges and made room for opposition to air their views without fear.

The MECs sudden passing highlights the importance of ensuring our safety and that of our loved ones against this deadly virus.

The MECs absence will be felt by those who stay behind. May the memories of him bring comfort to his loved ones in this trying time.
