The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Rustenburg is pleased to report progress following a successful Community Security Meeting in Ward 15, where residents, volunteers, and local officials came together to address the ongoing vandalism of electrical boxes.
The DA has long raised concerns about the municipality’s slow response to infrastructure security. We therefore welcome the fact that the Rustenburg Local Municipality (RLM) has now granted permission for residents to actively assist in addressing the problem.
Two key measures were agreed upon during the meeting:
- Establishing a volunteer group to support community stakeouts.
- Mobilising qualified residents, working alongside RLM’s electrical department, to weld electrical boxes shut. This important work will be completed by the end of November 2025 in Ward 15.
We thank all residents who participated, as well as MMC Phuto and Karabo from the electrical department, for their willingness to engage and assist when invited.
This initiative shows that by working together, residents, experts, and the municipality, we can secure essential infrastructure, improve safety, and ensure a more reliable supply of electricity for our communities.
The DA will continue to lead from the front in finding practical solutions to protect residents and improve service delivery in Rustenburg.
