The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Rustenburg cannot accept the ongoing noise pollution crisis that robs residents of their peace and dignity while the Municipality fails to act.

For families across Rustenburg, weekends have become unbearable. From Friday evenings through to late Sunday, neighbourhoods are battered by relentless noise, despite a clear Noise Pollution By-Law that remains ignored and unenforced.

The DA demands immediate action:

  • Enforce the Noise Pollution By-Law without fear or favour.
  • Fine offenders and collect the revenue.
  • Confiscate equipment and hold repeat offenders accountable.

Noise and alcohol abuse go hand in hand, fuelling violence, reckless behaviour, and lawlessness. This is not just a nuisance, it is a public health and safety crisis. Families are robbed of rest, children are unable to study, and prolonged exposure leaves residents facing stress, anxiety, hypertension, and sleep disorders.

Communities have repeatedly raised the same hotspots, including:

  • Dinie Estates
  • The Theme Park in Waterfall East
  • An illegal shebeen in Kremetart Avenue
  • Paula’s Guest House in Cuckoo Avenue
  • Taverns in Zinniaville and Karlien Park

The DA is committed to ensuring that the people of Rustenburg live in safe, healthy communities where laws are upheld. Sleepless nights and endless noise must come to an end.
