The DA in the JB Marks Local Municipality welcomes the reopening of the Potchefstroom public swimming pool after it was closed since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the closure of the pool almost 3 years ago, this public facility fell into a state of neglect and disrepair. The DA conducted several oversight inspections only to find that maintenance was also suspended, which lead to cracks, leaks and dysfunctional pumps.

The DA in collaboration with the Potchefstroom Underwater Hockey Club worked together to see that the municipality drain the pool, repair the cracks, refill the pool, replace faulty pool pumps and servicing the ablution facilities in time for the December holidays.

We are pleased to announce that lifeguards have been appointed to ensure the safety of swimmers. See images here and here.

The swimming pool is now finally ready for summertime fun to be enjoyed by members of the community and will open from Tuesdays to Sundays, 10h00 till 18h00.
