We are pleased to announce the newly elected leadership of the Democratic Alliance (DA) Caucus in the North West Provincial Legislature following our internal mid-term elections in line with our Party’s constitution and democratic processes.

Freddy Sonakile MPL, who served as the Chief Whip, was duly elected as the DA’s Caucus Leader and will take over from Winston Rabotapi MPL. Winston Rabotapi MPL was elected along with Jacqueline Theologo MPL to represent the province on the DA’s Federal Council.

Gavin Edwards MPL has in turn been appointed Chief Whip.

Transparency and internal democracy form a cornerstone of the DA’s core values, as these internal mid-term elections show. Healthy internal democracy is indicative of a culture of good political contestation.

It shows that the DA continues to function in line with good democratic and liberal principles.

We would like to thank Winston Rabotapi for his leadership during the previous term and wish Freddy Sonakile MPL all the best as he leads the Caucus towards the 2024 general elections.
