DA North West plan of action in bid to prevent spread of Covid-19

The DA in North West has taken a decision to suspend all public engagement political activities in a bid to prevent the spread of Covid-19 until further notice.
This follows the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa declaring a national state of disaster with the aim to flatten the curve of new infections. We urge the people of North West to take measures to limit the spread of the Coronovirus in line with the official guidelines set out. These include social-distancing, improved personal hygiene practises, self-isolation in the case of contracting any illness and to limit the possible exposure of high-risk individuals who are on chronic treatment, children and the elderly.
As such, all political meetings such as branch launches, branch annual general meetings, membership drives, public meetings, door-to-door engagements and or any other means of interaction that might put at risk the health of citizens are suspended immediately until further notice.
While direct interaction with the public will be suspended, DA Members of Parliament, the Provincial Legislature and Councillors across all municipalities remain resolute and available to attend to service delivery concerns of the public at large.
The health and wellbeing of people come first, as a result, we will make use of technology, such as video conference calling, telephone call, SMS, WhatsApp and any relevant social media tools to our disposal to serve the people.
To ensure the wellbeing of our professional support staff, a skeleton staff component will be attending the provincial office in Potchefstroom, while others will work from home.

We urge people to remain calm and not to forward fake news and messages that only seeks to increase panic and anxiety amongst a people who are already stressed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Together, we can beat Coronavirus.
