The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Naledi Municipality welcomes a significant victory for local businesses. On 27 February 2026, the council approved a DA-led motion to correct business rates, reducing them to the levels originally approved in the 2025/2026 municipal budget.

This follows ongoing DA advocacy after concerns were raised that business rates had been implemented differently from the approved budget, despite an earlier notice from NERSA. The DA initially tabled a motion on 30 October 2025 calling for adjustments to align rates with council-approved resolutions. While the motion was initially rejected, persistent pressure from the DA has now led to its successful adoption.

This decision represents a win for fairness, accountability, and responsible governance in Naledi. The DA will continue to hold the municipality accountable and ensure that residents and businesses receive the services and fair treatment they deserve.
