The Democratic Alliance in the North West is pleased to announce that we have nominated Claudie Greenwood-Selby as our Councillor Candidate for the upcoming By-Election in Ward 29, Madibeng Local Municipality. See photo attached.
The Ward 29 Council seat became vacant in July when DA Councillor Abram Ratlou sadly passed away unexpectedly. The date for the by-election is tentatively scheduled for 11 November 2020.
Claudie has been a DP/DA supporter and voter since 1999 and formally took up Party membership in 2016.
Shortly after the 2016 local government elections, Claudie was elected to serve on the Ward 33 Committee. She has been living and working in Madibeng for the last 6 years, and during this time has become closely involved with the community. Apart from being very active with Ward Committee business, Claudie also launched a ‘Spekboom Project in Hartbeestfontein to help reduce air pollution in the area.
Claudie is adamant that the Madibeng Local Municipality can, and should, do more to improve service delivery.
The DA won Ward 29 from the ANC in 2011 and increased voter support in 2016. Claudie is ready to build on the good track record of the late Councillor Ratlou and will represent the residents of Ward 29 in Council with complete dedication, to champion their concerns and improve service delivery in the Ward.
As the Constituency Head for Madibeng for the last 10 years, I believe that Claudie has already earned the trust of residents in Ward 29 through her constant interactions through her valuable support network. I have no doubt that Claudie will deliver on the expectations of residents once elected.
We extend our full support to Claudie Greenwood-Selby and wish her all the best with her campaign. We encourage the residents of Ward 29 to rally behind her so that we can continue to deliver on the DA difference and keep the ANC-led Municipality in check.
